A transport company built around care

A sentinel keeps watch. That's the job on every journey we run: the children and passengers on board are the reason we're on the road.

Why we started

Sentinel Transport was founded by Mahad Mohamed, who has driven London buses for a living and has coordinated home care for around forty people with a team of thirty carers in North London.

Those two jobs share a lesson. When someone relies on you to get them through their day, what matters most is turning up when you said you would, being the same person they saw yesterday, and telling the family the moment something changes. Too often, school transport for children with SEND gets the vehicle right and the people wrong. We set up Sentinel to get both right.

How we work

  • Small on purpose. We'd rather run a few routes very well than many routes badly. We grow only as fast as we can recruit and train the right people.
  • The same faces. Drivers and assistants stay on their routes so children can build trust with them.
  • Straight answers. If we can't cover a route safely, we'll say so rather than take it.
